Renewed Government Commercial Agency (GCA) MoU Gives Organisations an Efficient, Trusted Pathway to Deployment
LONDON, UK, 21 October – Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY), the trusted agentic platform for HR, finance, and IT, today announced growing customer adoption across the UK’s public and third sectors, anchored by a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government Commercial Agency. The agreement further streamlines Workday deployment for public bodies while Workday deepens its investment in the UK workforce and communities.
The UK Public Sector Runs on Workday
Workday powers the employee experience for public sector employees across the UK. In addition to major bodies like the Cabinet Office and Department for Education (DfE) who leverage Workday, the organisation today announced the latest wave of customers who have selected or deployed the AI platform:
- National charities such as Alzheimer's Research UK, alongside public funding and regulatory bodies like the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), have selected Workday to help ensure more of each pound goes to frontline services and outcomes.
- Local authorities like Hull City Council and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, and housing providers like SNG (Sovereign Network Group) and Yorkshire Housing are leveraging the platform to streamline operations and focus resources on frontline services.
- Public universities across the UK continue to modernise institutional operations with Workday, including University of Hull.
“Our people are our most valued asset,” said David Bell, director of finance, Hull City Council. “Workday has allowed us to bring all our data together on one platform, giving us the visibility we need to make informed decisions faster – and ultimately deliver better services for the people of Hull.”
Certainty for High-Stakes Environments
With Workday, public body organisations can bring HR and finance data together on one platform. The platform combines AI-driven reasoning with the context, guardrails, and audit trails needed to check, trace, and trust recommendations and actions – essential in the strictly regulated public services sector.
With the renewed MoU with GCA, public sector organisations can adopt Workday with greater ease than ever, benefitting from standardised security terms and pre-vetted procurement routes.
"This agreement is about more than commercial savings; it's about equipping the public sector with the tools to work smarter while driving tangible social value,” said Dr Philip Orumwense CBE, Chief Technology Procurement Officer and Commercial Director, GCA. “By mainstreaming AI into everyday processes, this MoU helps reduce administrative burden and ensure public bodies can harness technology safely while supporting the UK’s growth and broadening the reach beyond central government departments to the devolved administrations and regional authorities.”
“Workday gives UK public bodies the trusted AI they need to manage people and money responsibly, helping ensure more time and funding stay on the frontline,” said Daniel Pell, Vice President and Country Manager, UKI, Workday. “Modernising core systems is vital, but lasting progress ultimately relies on building confidence and capability across the wider workforce.”
Investing in the UK and its Citizens
Workday also announced a new partnership with Citizens Advice Milton Keynes. Through theWorkday Foundation, the partnership will drive the expansion of Citizens Advice’s pioneering “Works for Us” programme, which integrates support for digital literacy and AI-enabled job search with the charity’s traditional information, advice, and guidance services.
This initiative builds on Workday's ongoing commitment to the UK and its people. Continued Workday Foundation partnerships with UK organisations such as Generation, Inc in the UK and Ada – The National College for Digital Skills help to support those from non-traditional backgrounds to pursue careers in technology. Beyond financial support, Workday employees actively serve as industry coaches, providing mentoring, workplace exposure, and career guidance to help students transition into apprenticeships and technology careers.
